My mother imbued elegance into both the spoken and written word. My father was a celebrated art critic. Both were rubbish at math.

So, it’s a bit strange that numbers spoke to me from an early age. After university, in a labour of love, I embraced information technology. But, always attracted to challenges, when opportunity came knocking thirteen years later, I leapt into the unknown world of business management.

Satisfyingly, I discovered that the language of numbers also whispered of alternative solutions to problems. I rode this skill to a fair degree of success. None of which would have been possible without sacrifice and unwavering support from my wife. Giving up her own IT career, she had taken the leap with me. What started out as a temporary adventure turned into a fifteen-year, multiple country journey for us, our two children, and our cats.

Sitting in my Toronto-based writing den, my imagination is often fueled by our travels.
